What to expect: A modern atrium lobby features cascading waterfalls and an escalator leading from reception down to the lobby bar and pool level. The Melia Azul caters to families and businesspeople, with dozens of activities and a kids’ club for the former and a 75,000 square foot convention and meeting center for the latter. Amenity highlights: Family fun is guaranteed with three different programs for children. Club 4, for kids 3 months-4 years old, features and air-conditioned center with kid-size bathrooms and kitchen. Mini-Club has a full-day of crafts and activities for children 5-12. Teenagers get their own rec room with air hockey, foosball, and snack area. There’s even a mushroom-themed aquatic water park in the pool area. Insider tip: The Sol Melia is the only hotel with direct access to a five-mile bicycle path that runs through the tourist zone and around La Laguna del Negro, home to a variety of wildlife including crocodiles, turtles, and several bird species.

On the rest of the grounds, guests will find two lighted tennis courts, two paddle tennis courts, a multi-use field (soccer, softball, etc.), a giant chess game, and fitness center.
