Marina Ixtapa - The Texan Robert Von Hagge, who is famous for his imaginative courses, designed the layout for the Marina Ixtapa Golf Club. This course is a par 72, 6781 yards championship level golf course. Canals wind their way through the course, providing recreation as well as a means of transport between the private villages, the Club House and the Ixtapa Marina facilities. Palma Real Golf Club - This 18-hole, par 72, 6898 yards championship Marina Golf Club, which used to be a coconut plantation, was designed by Robert Trent Jones, Jr. The course features natural lakes, lagoons, exoctic trees with brilliantly colored flowers.
Paseo del Pescador (Fisherman´s Walk) - It is very pleasant to wander around and shop in the downtown area. It is also the perfect location to watch the arrival of the fishermen at dawn and the magnificent sunset at the end of the day.
Museum - Juan N Alvarez St (downtown, in front of the main beach and 200 meters from Municipal City Council). The museum features thousands of pre-Hispanic pieces, murals, pictures and maps displayed in six galleries.
Isla Ixtapa - Just minutes north of the hotel zone in Ixtapa is Playa Linda. From here launches depart for Isla Ixtapa. The ten minutes boat ride. This Woode island is home to diverse wildlife; raccoons, armadillos, deer, iguanas and dozens of specie of native birds. The island´s four beaches each have their own character. The best swimming and sunning beaches face westward.
Playa Las Gatas - From the Municipal Pier in Zihuatanejo, take a skiff across to the outermost southern tip of Zihuatanejo Bay. This beach is of white coral sand, with a shallow shoreline and gentle surf. Diving equipment rental available with qualified instructors.
Barra de Potosi - For even more adventure head about 10 miles north to Barra de Potosi, a tiny fishing settlement where local legend has it that a pirate treasure is buried near village´s restaurant row. Gold coins supposedly have been found in the area.
Los Troncones - Twenty-five miutes north of Ixtapa is this virgin beach by a few private homes and thick jungle. Beach combers, surfes, sea kayakers and beach purists will enjoy this outing. Walk south from the main beach to some lovely deserted coves and ocean caves.
Ixtapa-Zihuatanejo International Airport: Approximate driving time is 20 minutes and distance is 10 miles.
Driving directions from Ixtapa-Zihuaranejo Airport (ZIH): Take highway 200 north-west in direction of Zihuatanejo and Ixtapa. When you arrive in Zihuatanejo, continue in the same highway 200 to Ixtapa and follow the signs.
